Description

Amherst to Holdernesse: he has informed the landgrave of the king's surprise that the troops will not march until 29 March. He has been to Eschwege to muster Prince Charles's regiment. Mr Althaus and the ministers have made a more reasonable demand on the troops' pay. There has been a reply from the king of Prussian on the letter of requisition. The Hessians wish the money for the troops to be paid soon. Dated at Cassel. ff. 48, 49
