Holdernesse to Amherst: the king would have preferred the troops to march by way of Holland. He will postpone any further directions until the arrival of Amherst's reply. Orders will be given to provide the necessary horse transports. Differing interpretations of the treaty for paying the Hessian troops. He is to confer with the Hessian generals and ministers as to which of the two routes to take. Requisitorial letters have been sent to the king of Prussia and to Colonel Yorke. Dated at Whitehall. ff. 19-26
