Newcastle to Cumberland: the king's pleasure at Lord Cathcart's offer to be one of the hostages. Their appointments will be suited to their rank. He is sending couriers to Aix la Chapelle and England to inform them of it. The king also approves the proposed reduction of the military establishment and the sending home of the German troops. Dated at Hanover. PS. that he is enclosing copies of letters to the plenipotentiaries, Hyndford, Mordaunt and Bedford. He has forgotten to show Cumberland's last to the king. ff. 230-232
