Date
[c. 1327]

Bourge de Vaux, widow of William de Vaux.
Name(s)
de Vaux, Bourge
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Vaux requests that the sheriff of Norfolk be ordered not to distrain her for the debts of her late husband when he was constable of Knaresborough as she has paid £22.
Nature of endorsement
She should have respite until Easter.
Places mentioned
Norfolk
Knaresborough, [West Riding of Yorkshire].
People mentioned
William de Vaux.
Note
The petition probably dates to 1327 when Vaux did have respite until Easter by an order directed to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer, and to the sheriff of Norfolk (CCR 1327-30, p.224). However, Vaux had been the recipient of respites as far back as 1325 on the same matter, so it is possible that this petition may date to a year or so around 1327 (CCR 1323-7, p.443).
