The petition dates to c. 1282 as the abbot was acquitted of a 40s. amercement on 4 May 1282 following the king's consideration of the record and process of the suit whereby the judgment was revoked because it had been proceeded to too quickly (CCR 1279-88, p.153). However, the petition and the consideration are slightly earlier and may reach back to 1281.
