The people request that the king will not suffer people to be delayed of recovery by default of suit because those summoned in inquests and assizes before justices dare not come to court for fear of being killed or other mischiefs by certain people.

ade false confederacies in accordance with a petition presented by the commons at the parliament held at Carlisle (CCR 1302-7, p.531). It is not entirely clear whether this does in fact refer to this petition, so that the dating must remain speculative.
Note
The petition may date to 1307 as a commission of oyer and terminer issued concerning felonies and trespasses in Devon on 24 April 1307 was ordered not to permit anyone to be placed on assizes, juries and recognitions who have made false confederacies in accordance with a petition presented by the commons at the parliament held at Carlisle (CCR 1302-7, p.531). It is not entirely clear whether this does in fact refer to this petition, so that the dating must remain speculative.
