Nature of request
The commonalty request that 13 cogs charged with corn, malt and flour belonging to German merchants are about to leave King's Lynn, and can be stopped as they are to the great damage of the realm, the German merchants selling their cargoes to the enemies at great profit, and the cost of corn has greatly risen.1)
Nature of endorsement
Concerning the boats loaded, it is agreed by the king and council that they be released, this time by good security.2) Concerning the export of victuals by aliens a prohibition has been expressly made and the king wishes it to remain.

Note
The petition has been dated to c. 1319-c. 1333 as it refers to Berwick in Scottish hands, and it was captured by the Scots in 1319, and was not recaptured until 1333. In addition the petition is answered in Latin which may suggest a date before 1322, as thereafter petitions were mainly answered in French.
