- The petition is dated to c. 1319-c. 1328 as the guard notes the range of dates to be c. 1318-c. 1328 based on references in the petition to a parliament lately held at York. Why 1318 was adopted is not clear, since parliaments were held at York in 1319, 1320, 1322 and 1328, nor is the reason for the terminal date clear, but there is at this stage no better dating evidence.
