Reference
SC 8/79/3930
Date
[c. 1325-c. 1375]
Description
Petitioners
Many of the people of the land.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The petitioners request that an attaint upon inquisitions in writs of trespass be granted or some other suitable remedy be ordained as certain people coveting the land of many people have by legal contrivance and in false alliance with people of the country disinherited many of their lands.
Nature of endorsement
It is agreed that they should have an attaint.
Note
The petition has been speculatively dated to c. 1325-c. 1375 as the petition is printed in Rot. Parl. amongst the 'Annis incertis Edwardi III' petitions with no other supporting evidence to narrow the date. A 50 year span has been adopted as not all of the petitions attributed in this way in Rot. Parl. are of the reign of Edward III.
