Description
Petitioners
Archbishops, bishops, abbots, priors, earls, barons and all other who claim to have fines, amercements, issues and chattels of felons by charters of progenitors of the king.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The petitioners request a writ to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to make allowance upon the accounts of sheriffs for their claims, and that their tenants be acquitted at the Exchequer of such fines, amercements and issues received by them by virtue of their charters.1)
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege.2) An answer has been made in common in a petition, presented before the king and council, which contains the substance of this petition and several other articles concerning the community of the realm. And the petition remains in the custody of William de Harlaston.
