Nature of request
The citizens present their grievances:1) They request remedy as they cannot pay their farm because alien merchants coming to the port are frequently exempt from paying tolls, and the war has deterred many merchants from coming, and they have no means of paying their farm except from tolls.2) They request that regard is given to the diversion of boats and trade to New Ross in allowance of their great debt.3) They further request that regard is given to the fall in revenue from tolls of wine because of liberties granted to foreign merchants.4) They ask that they be able to use the liberties and free customs of Bristol which were granted to them and have been allowed to fall into disuse.5) [Fragmentary final request for a writ to the justice and council of Ireland concerning their liberties].
