Description
Petitioners
Robert de Welle.
Name(s)
de Welle, Robert
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Robert de Welle states that the King has granted him all the lands, with appurtenances, fees and advowsons, which Maud his wife held in dower, including the service of Richard Fitz Marmaduke for the manor of Stranton in Hartness. However, the present Bishop is now claiming wardship by reason of his prerogative, in prejudice of the King's right to the reversion. The King has ordered to Bishop to do justice to Robert three times, and has ordered him a fourth time to appear before him and his council at the octaves of Hilary last to answer on the business, and the Bishop has done nothing. Robert asks that he might be attached, or that he and Robert might be summoned before the King's council, where the King's right might be tried.
Nature of endorsement
He is to have a writ of attachment against the Bishop, to appear before the King according to the process of the previous writs.
