Nature of request
The Abbess and convent of Winchester state that they are severely distrained by the Constable of Windsor and his ministers in their manor of Froyle in Hampshire, for the arrears of their farm of 20s. for this manor, in the name of William de Ernham, for the forest and bailiwick of Yarnham, although William paid the 20s. for the entire period when the bailiwick was afforested, as has been found by several inquisitions. They request a writ to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to proceed to judgment on these inquisitions, in discharge of the Constable, and another writ to the Constable, to cease these distraints; and they ask that they might no more be harassed and distrained for this reason.
