Nature of request
John de Wydeville of Grafton states that his grandfather held the manor of Passenham, which was alienated firstly by means of the wardship of his eldest son, an idiot, and ultimately by the Earl of Lancaster, who entered as chief lord because it was held of the honour of Tutbury. He asks that he might be allowed to put his claim before the Escheator or some other person whom the King wishes to assign to this.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] Henry Spigurnel and [Roger Beler] and John de Wilughby, or two of them.[On dorse] Any deeds, charters and muniments the Earl has for the tenements etc. are to be examined, and John de Kynardeseye is to be questioned on this etc. and the King further informed etc.The deeds and other muniments etc. have been examined, and nothing has been found. Therefore the truth is to be inquired into, and the King informed.

The commission for CIM 1307-49 no.580 is dated 6 July 15 Edward II (1322), and included with it is a petition from John de Wydevill of Grafton, which, from the names at the foot of the face, would seem to be this one.
