Reference
SC 8/77/3831
Date
[1320]
Description
Petitioners
Iorwerth Voil, King's sergeant.
Name(s)
Voil, Iorwerth
Addressees
King.
Places mentioned
Aberffraw, Anglesey [Wales].
Nature of request
Iorwerth Voil, King's sergeant, states that the King has granted him a carucate and a half of land at Aberffraw for term of life, quit of rent, and asks that the King might grant it to him and his heirs in the same way, for the good service he has done him.
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council that this is not to be done.
Note
This petition is enrolled on the roll of the Michaelmas parliament of 1320: although the Latin summary is not quite accurate (Voil already holds for life: he now wishes to be able to pass on the lands to his heirs), the identical endorsement shows that this is the same petition.CPR 1313-17 p.78 is dated 12 January 1314.
