Nature of request
Agnes de Valence makes three requests:1) She asks that she might have permission to send John her chaplain, Walter de Hountingfeud, and two men, Bartholomew and Wascun, who brought the news of her son's death to her, to Hainault: because the Count has seized his lands until certain people have been sent for her son and for her other son Baldwin.2) She requests a letter to the Count of Hainault telling him that Baldwin is alive and in good health, as otherwise no-one will be able to enter the lands which have fallen to him.3) She asks that she might be able to pay the sum the King wishes to levy from her in the name of barony in instalments, as she can have no access to her holdings outside England. She also asks that a letter concerning this money might be returned to her.
