Nature of request
Femmote, widow of Robert de Tistede, states that her late husband held the manor of West Tisted in Hampshire of John de Seynt Johan, for the service of 2d. a year for all services, and that therefore the wardship of the manor and the heir ought to belong to her as closest relative of the heir, the keepers of the diocese of Winchester, which is in the King's hand, are claiming that he held of that diocese by knight service, and have seized the manor and heir into the King's hand. She requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Certain faithful people are to be appointed in Chancery to inquire into the truth of the contents of the petition, in the presence of the keepers of the diocese, and the inquisition is to be returned. And if the inquisition finds as the petition claims, the keepers are to be ordered to remove the king's hand etc. and those issues etc.
