John de Trehampton.

John de Trehampton states that, although he served John de Moubray, carrying his goods and the equipment of his chapel, he knew nothing of armed combat as he was under age, and never bore arms against the king or conspired against him, but left John de Moubray as soon as he knew of his plans. He asks that this might be inquired into, and grace and justice done to him.

Coram rege.He is to come before Harvey de Staunton and his companions and show his grievance, and justice will be done to him.
Places mentioned

People mentioned
Harvey de Staunton (Stanton).
Note
This petition must date to the aftermath of the 1322 rebellion. There seems to be no reason to identify the petitioner with the John de Trehampton, petitioner in SC 8/76/3772; nor is he necessarily the John de Trehampton, rebel, whose manor was granted to William Aune on 5 May 1322 (CPR 1321-4 pp. 108) or the John de Trehampton given a commission de walliis et fossatis on 5 March 1324 (CPR 1321-4 p.442). The petition is dated on the guard to c. 1323, with reference to these two references and to the floruit of Harvey de Staunton.
