Nature of request
John and Arnold Tuskanan state that their father lost most of his goods in the King's service in his wars, and that John has also served him in his wars in Gascony, without receiving any recompense. Arnold, who is a student at Toulouse, has lost his books and other goods through the King's wars, and because of this has come to Oxford to study. They ask the King to grant Arnold a suitable benefice when it is appropriate, and in the meantime to give him something for his sustenance.
