Nature of request
William de Thorntoft, parson of the church of Fewston, which is within the bounds of the King's forest of Knaresborough, asks that he and his successors might have reasonable estovers, like housebote and haybote, in the forest, as his predecessors had, as he is being prevented from taking them by the King's ministers of the forest.
Nature of endorsement
He is to have [a writ] in Chancery to Miles de Stapelton, the Keeper of the Forest of Knaresborough, or to his lieutenant, to inquire into whether the predecessors of the aforesaid William de Thorntoft, parsons of the same church, were seised of reasonable estovers, like housebote and haybote, in the aforesaid forest, and if so, the aforesaid Miles or his lieutenant is to allow the same William to receive and have reasonable estovers, like housebote and haybote, in the aforesaid forest, as his predecessors had.
