Roger le Teseler complains that Robert Gyen and Richard de la Pole, the King's butlers in Bristol, took eleven tuns of wine from him on the Friday before the feast of St Thomas, in the King's fourth year, promising to pay him at the following Michaelmas: and they have not done so. They have now sold those wines for their own use, and given him inferior wines instead. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
This petition is to be sent to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer, so that, when they have examined the petition and the things contained in it, and when they have called the parties before them, they are further to provide a swift remedy and justice.

Note
The prise of wines was made on the Friday before the feast of St Thomas, in the King's [Edward III's] fourth year, so in December 1330, and payment was supposed to have been made the following Michaelmas - September 1331 - but was not. This petition must date from shortly after that.
