Description
Petitioners
John de Talleworthe (Talworth) of London.
Name(s)
de Talleworthe (Talworth), John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
John de Talleworthe requests payment for firewood, coal and salt supplied by him at various times, both to the King's father and to the present King, as he and his family are greatly impoverished as a result.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege. The accounts of the purveyors are to be examined, and if it is found that the King was provided with these things, the King is to be informed; and if the King was not provided with them, then the Treasurer and Barons are to have the parties called and do justice.
Places mentioned
London.
People mentioned
Edward [I], King of England
Robert Lesquiler
John Lesquiler
Simon Lesquiler
Hamo de la Chaumbre
John Makerel
Richard Smalwode.
Note
This petition mentions goods provided in 31, 33 and 34 Edward I, and in 1, 2, 3 and 4 Edward II: it must therefore date from 4 Edward II (8 July 1310 - 7 July 1311) or later. However, although it is clearly from the reign of Edward II, the French endorsement would suggest a date towards the end of that reign, almost certainly after 1321.
