Nature of request
The petitioner states that he was robbed of his goods within the confines of the counties of Warwickshire and Staffordshire, and that he sued a writ in Chancery to the sheriffs to inquire into this, in accordance with the Statute of Winchester. As a result of their inquisitions, they were ordered to give him recovery of his goods, and, because they did nothing, were ordered again. The sheriff of Warwickshire replied that the previous inquisition was taken by his clerk in his absence, and then held a new inquisition, without warrant, because of which the inquisitions have been ordered before the justices of King's Bench. He requests execution according to the first inquisitions, notwithstanding the later malicious information of the Sheriff of Warwickshire.
