John Southcouper requests payment of a sum of money owed him by the King for carrying wine and flour from Bordeaux to Newcastle upon Tyne, for which he has a bill under the seal of Roger de Watham, formerly Keeper of the Great Wardrobe.

Note
Roger de Waltham was Keeper of the Wardrobe between 1 May 1322 and 20 October 1323. This accords with the petitioner's statement in SC 8/75/3703 that he carried the wine and flour from Bordeaux to Newcastle in the king's sixteenth year (8 July 1322 - 7 July 1323) (the amounts in the two petitions, and in SC 8/75/3704, tally). As the debt is owed by the present king, the petition must date from 1323-1327.
