Nature of request
The tenants request that the constable of Bamburgh Castle be ordered that the tenants be quit of their farm, and quit them of the charges taken from them for their refuge in the castle. They are dependent on Bamburgh Castle and have been destroyed by the Scottish enemies. They petitioned concerning their farm, and Fenwick was ordered to examine which tenants could render the farm, but since then they have suffered further burnings, and their women and children have been taken.1)
Nature of endorsement
It pleases the king that they should have of his grace a pardon of their farm and for other works for a year, and they should have a writ under the great seal on this.2) Concerning the lodging it pleases the king that it be ordered by a writ of the great seal to the constable that from now he should not exact from them for their lodging.3) Coram rege et magno consilio.
