Description
Petitioners
Robert de Sencler of Stone.

de Sencler, Robert
Addressees

Nature of request
Sencler demands a suitable remedy as Luton and others with the abetment of Hainaulters and Germans that came with the queen and duke, came be force and took his goods from his house, and would have killed him if he hadn't been rescued by Trussel, because they alleged he was a clerk of Despenser though he never served him, and they have put in a bill to parliament that he is a conspirator and aiding all the wrongs in the county, and Sencler wishes to have this verified.1)
Nature of endorsement
Concerning to the entry of his house, and the carriage away of the goods and chattels he should sue at the common law.2) And concerning to the remainder, nothing.
Places mentioned
Stone, Buckinghamshire
Aylesbury, [Buckinghamshire]
Hartwell, [Buckinghamshire].
People mentioned
William de Luton of Hartwell the younger
Thomas le Carpenter
Gregory Gedi
William de Bridport
Hugh le Despenser.
Note
The petition would seem to date to the period late in the reign of Edward II, or perhaps early in the reign of Edward III as it is clearly part of the overthrow of the rule of the Despensers. As the petition refers to the arrival of the queen and the duke, the duke being Edward, Duke of Aquitaine, soon to be Edward III.
