Description

King and council.
Occupation
Prior of Sempringham
Nature of request
The prior requests remedy as neither he or his predecessors took any land at farm from king's father, nor hold any from the Templars in Carlton or Bassingham, but a sum is currently demanded from the prior by summons of the Exchequer because Despenser made a commission of the Exchequer of the lands and tenements in the prior's name, and then took the lands to his own use, the prior having nothing nor having purchased the commission.

Let it be ordered to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that if they are able to know by inquisition or in another manner that the prior has nothing from the commission then he should have a discharge.
