Name(s)
de Semer; de Hambury, Adam; Philip
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The petitioners request that a warrant be granted to them to make a boat to raid the enemy, and that through the warrant they are able to take men who are sufficient for the control of the boat, and that from the gains that they make the king will ordain what he pleases saving only their costs.
Nature of endorsement
They should make the boat if they wish, but it is not agreed that they are able to take men for the control of the boat.
Note
The petition is difficult to date as the identity of 'the enemies' cannot be established. It is assigned here, on the basis of the hand, to the first phase of the Hundred Years War, though it could well be earlier.
