Nature of request
1) Copy of a writ of Edward II to the barons of the Exchequer to hear the abbot of Selby's claims and do justice.2) Copy of a petition of the abbot and convent of Selby request remedy concerning their wastes from which they were ousted by the earl of Lincoln.
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council that if it pleases the king that since he previously granted the inquisition that he should grant it again, but the thing is to be done duly and by good people.

The document dates to 1322-1323. The writ dates to the 6 November 1322. The petition which precipitated it must date to earlier in the year, but after the fall of Thomas of Lancaster, and additional notes after the petition refer to Michaelmas term 1322, and that the writ and petition came into the hand of the marshal in the 16th year.
