Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/74/3652
Date
[c. 1327]
Description
Petitioners
Raymond Seguyn (Seguin).
Name(s)
Seguyn (Seguin), Raymond
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Seguyn requests that the seneschal of Gascony or his lieutenant be ordered to make restitution of the chattels and the lands given to Seguyn by the earl of Kent together with the issues and profits arising from the lands after the time that Ingham took them into his hand, and that the gift of the earl be ratified and confirmed by the king's letters. The earl assigned to Seguyn all the lands of Bernard in compensation for his lands, goods and chattels taken by the French at La Reole but these were sized by Ingham because he was with the earl in the company of the queen.
Nature of endorsement
The king grants to Seguyn that he should have and hold at his will those lands and tenements which the earl, late lieutenant of Edward II in Gascony, granted to him both for the land which was lost because of the war and for the good service which he did to the late king.
Places mentioned
Buses (Bazas), [Guyenne, France]
Burdeleys (Bordelais), [Guyenne, France]
La Reole, [Guyenne, France].
People mentioned
[Edmund of Woodstock], Earl of Kent
Andrew Bernard of Aduses
Oliver de Ingham, Seneschal of Gascony
Isabella of France, Queen of England.
Note
The petition appears to date to c. 1327 as it refers to the lands being seized because the earl of Kent was with the queen. This is presumably a reference to the queen's exile in France with Mortimer prior to the overthrow of Edward II, and therefore dates to early in the reign of Edward III, and before the earl of Kent's execution in 1330.
