Nature of request
Laurence requests remedy as many tuns of white wine were taken from him at Guernsey. He petitioned concerning this and the sergeant at arms was ordered to enquire of this. He found numerous tuns in numerous ports in the hands of numerous individuals, but he has only received restitution of a portion of this, and he has been long delayed.1)
Nature of endorsement
Concerning the 6 tuns at Melcombe a writ is ordered to the sheriff to deliver the wine . . . or 5 marks for each and that . . . of the goods and chattels of the purveyors and deliver it to the merchant as speedily as he is able.2) In the same manner it is ordered to the sheriffs and mayors and bailiffs of the other places where the wine has come that the merchant be served as quickly as they are able.
