Nature of request
The people request remedy and an inquisition before the barons of the Exchequer concerning the extortions made by Chandler and others concerning the pavage that the king granted to the town for three years.
Nature of endorsement
It is ordered to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that they call the parties before them, and they should examine the matter and do justice upon the contents in the petition for the king and his people.

The petition dates to 1323. The original grant of pavage was made on 30 May 1315, and no further grant seems to have been made before the commission to order the accounts for pavage which was probably issued in response to the petition on 16 April 1323 (CPR 1313-17, p.294; CPR 1321-4, p.313).
