Note
The guard notes suggest a date of? c. 1333 on the basis of an unrelated close roll reference whereby the petitioner acknowledged a debt. The reference merely proves that the petitioner was alive in 1333 (CCR 1333-7, p.174). However, the guard note also gives a reference to another close roll entry where again the petitioner acknowledges a debt, but on this occasion the acknowledgment dates to 1322 (CCR 1318-23, p.565). While the petition perhaps has the feel of a document of 1333 rather than 1322, neither of these entries is sufficient to substantiate any date for this petition, and, indeed, c. 1322 or c. 1333 leaves a great margin of error, as does c. 1322-c. 1333. However it seems safer to opt for this latter dating in the absence of any firmer dating evidence.
