Nature of request
The abbot requests that the king order his justices to go to judgment concerning the manor of Berwick Basset of which his predecessor was disseised by Despenser, and for which he has sued at every parliament since the king's coronation, and has still not had justice.1)
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege et magno consilio.2) Let the tenor of the record and process in Chancery concerning this business be viewed, and the chancellor should call to him the justices and others of the council to come and examine the tenor, and if they find by the tenor that it is sufficiently enquired and searched for the king, and that the abbot has sufficiently pursued and shown his right then let justice be done to him.
