Nature of request
Spinaupe requests that his costs and damages are paid concerning the boat Seint Jake which has been in the service of the king for three years. He was commanded to go with the lord of Lescun to Bayonne and return the boat to London, but when he was at London Croper and others came and took the boat to his and the king's damage.

Note
The petition dates to c. 1327 on the basis of a writ to the sheriffs of London concerning the ship. While it is very clear from the writ that it is not in response to the petition, but rather, represents a claim on the boat by other aggrieved parties it seems very clear that the petition post dates this, and may actually result from the sheriffs' response to the writ (CCR 1327-30, pp.186).
