Letice Skot (Scot), widow of Richard le Scot of Dunwich.
Name(s)
Skot (Scot), Letice
Addressees
Council.
Nature of request
Skot requests remedy as her father gave her two boats charged with wheat in the haven of Orford, and Richard Fitz John and others came and assailed them and carried away the goods. She has complained before Roucestre and his associates, justices in eyre.
Nature of endorsement
Nothing because [it is answered] elsewhere.

Dunwich, [Suffolk]
Orford, [Suffolk].
People mentioned
Richard Fitz John
Piers [Fitz John], brother of Richard Fitz John
Austin Josce
William Sutwolde (Southwold)
John Arnald
Richard [Arnald], brother of John Arnald

Roger Josce
Richard de Sutwolde (Southwold), clerk
Saloman de Roucestre (Rochester), Justice.
Note
Although the petition makes mention of events that occurred in the 47th year of the reign of Henry III (1262-3), the petition also refers to a complaint brought by the petitioner before Saloman de Rochester and other justices in eyre. Rochester's eyre was held in 1286-7 as the surviving rolls show, so it is unlikely that the petition is much later, so a date of c. 1286 seems acceptable (JUST 1/832-3).
