Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/70/3500
Date
[1322-1323]
Description
Petitioners
Sarah Sturmy, widow of Philip Sturmy.
Name(s)
Sturmy, Sarah
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Sturmy requests that regard is given to the arrears due to her from lands and tenements in Burbage, and confirm the covenants comprised within the indenture made between her and Tyeis for the time to come. She enfeoffed by fine Tyeis and his heirs of all her lands and tenements in Burbage taking from Tyeis certain covenants. The lands are in the king's hand by the felony of Tyeis.
Nature of endorsement
[None, see SC 8/70/3501 for the response]
Places mentioned
Burbage, [Wiltshire].
People mentioned
Philip Sturmy, late husband of the petitioner
Henry Tyeis.
Note
The petition dates to 1322-1323 as the petition clearly follows the forfeiture of Henry Tyeis in 1322, and an inquisition was held into the status of the land on 4 August 1323 presumably in response to the petition (CIM 1307-49, no.745). The petition could not, anyway, be later than June 1324 when Tyeis' widow was restored to the lands mentioned in the petition (CCR 1323-7, p.123).
