A document containing a petition headed 'The petition of the executors of the testament of John de Sandale, lately Bishop of Winchester, presented in the parliament at Northampton in the second year of the present king', and duplicating SC 8/70/3495, together with its endorsement, followed by the transcript of a writ dated at Northampton, 18 May, 2 Edward III (1328), ordering the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to allow to the executors those sums of money which they employed in execution of the testament and also their reasonable expenses for the funeral and the rendering of accounts at the Exchequer, to inform themselves concerning the jewels and other things delivered to the King's father, giving the executors an allowance for these jewels and other things, or to inform the King of any reason why they should not do so, and to cease their demands in the meantime.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Places mentioned

Edward [II], King of England

Note
CCR 1330-3 p.475 is dated 13 July 1332, and mentions that the orders given by the king in response to SC 8/70/3495 were ignored, and that he has had to repeat these orders. This petition may therefore date to 1332, as a memorandum of the previous petition and its response. It is unlikely to be the petition that gives rise to the later CCR 1333-7 p.49 (dated 5 June 1333), as this mentions payments made to Hugh le Despenser, and letters of acquittance for him, which are not mentioned in this petition.
