- The people request remedy be ordained for them as Massey and other Cheshiremen came and chased large numbers of their livestock into Cheshire, and none of them have anything in the power of the king to be distrained to answer them except within Cheshire.

- The petition has been dated on the guard to 1311 on the basis that this was a year when the eve of the feast of St Matthew was a Tuesday. The same occurs in 1395 or 1406, though the hand of the petition may suggest that it must be assigned to 1311.
