Nature of request
Salyngg requests that it be ordained that right be done to him as Robert de Hamelden and others came to his house at East Bedfont and broke in and took his goods and chattels, and took all his goods and chattels from elsewhere in Middlesex until he made a fine with Hamelden in £20 by statute merchant, and demanded that he released all manner of actions. He is unable to have the malefactors indicted because of the maintenance of the abbot of Westminster, and he requests further that the matter be determined by people of the two hundreds of East Bedfont, and not by tenants of the abbot.

The petition dates to 1344 as a commission of oyer and terminer was issued into the matter on complaint by Salyngg on 22 July 1344 (CPR 1343-5, p.408).
