Rivere requests remedy according to the law and reason as Marchal came to his manor of Westrop by force and arms and chased 4 oxen to the queen's manor of Sevenhampton and detained them there. Marchal and other also came and chased sheep of Batt to the same manor and detains them there.

The petition can be dated to 1327 by the commission of oyer and terminer issued to the justices concerning the complaint of the petitioner (CPR 1327-30, p.80). However, the response to the petition merely states that 'he should sue at the common law', and there is no mention of the commission, so the commission may be a result of further actions by the petitioner.
