Rivers requests a command to the sheriff of Hampshire to return the best and most worthy people of the country to pass on the quarrel concerning the manor of Burgate, and also to command the escheator that he will deliver to Rivers his charters and muniments which he took in a chest and detains against right and reason, so that he is not disinherited since he has been long delayed and greatly impoverished. The manor of Burgate is in the hand of the king by an inquisition taken by the escheator which found that Langley, the tenant of the manor, died without heirs, whereas he is kinsman and heir and the manor is entailed on him by fine.
