Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/70/3453
Date
[c. 1331]
Description
Petitioners
Richard de Richemund (Richmond), executor of Thomas de Richemund.
Name(s)
de Richemund (Richmond), Richard
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Richemund requests payment of or a suitable assignment for a sum borrowed from him by Bromley for the use of the king in Carlisle during the time of Edward II as appears by a livery of the Wardrobe
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the treasurer and barons that when they have searched the liveries of the Wardrobe if they find from them that the money was lent by him to the victualler as the petition alleges, and that he hasn't been paid then they are make payment of an assignment to him.
Places mentioned
Carlisle, [Cumberland].
People mentioned
Thomas de Richemund
Gilbert de Bromle (Bromley), late victualler of Carlisle
William de Melton, Archbishop of York and Keeper of the Wardrobe.
Note
The petition is difficult to date, as although Richemund appears twice in entries in the close rolls concerned with debts owed to him or his late brother, neither relates to this loan. However, it seems very unlikely that this petition would be of a significantly different date than either SC 8/70/3452 or the two close roll references (CCR 1330-3, pp.354 & 432). A date of c. 1331 seems reasonable.
