Nature of request
Maurice Russel asks that part of his debt might be pardoned and the remainder paid in instalments, and that he might be appointed Sheriff of Cork and Waterford, in consideration of his good service in Ireland and Scotland.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to having terms: he is to account at the Exchequer, and the King is to be informed, and the King will take counsel. And in the meantime the distraints are to be halted.And with regard to the bailiwicks, he is to have them back; and a commission is to be made to him under the great seal, at the King's pleasure.

CPR 1301-7 p.19 is dated 15 February 1302, and would seem to be the result of this petition. It makes no mention of the debts: SC 8/69/3424, presented at the summer parliament of 1302, may be a follow-up on this subject.
