Description
Petitioners
Andrew de Roldeston (Rolleston), son and heir of Robert de Roldeston (Rolleston).
Name(s)
de Roldeston (Rolleston), Andrew
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Andrew de Roldeston, son and heir of Robert de Roldeston, states that Thomas de Radeclyf sur Sore held certain tenements in Rolleston leased from his father for a term of years, of which the reversion belonged to Andrew, and that to disinherit Andrew he entered into a conspiracy with Adam de Cradel and Adam le Westren to have Andrew indicted of burgling the house of Robert le Wryght at Southwell, for which indictment Thomas imprisoned Andrew by colour of his office, until he had made a release and quitclaim to Thomas of all the right he had in the tenements. He was afterwards acquitted by inquest, but has been disinherited and suffered £200 of damages. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to his being indicted by their procurement and then acquitted, he is to have a writ of conspiracy. With regard to the fact that he released his land in prison, he is to sue at common law, and allege this in answering.

William de Herle, justice.
Note
Dated on the guard to c. 1331, with reference to William de Herle and his companions, justices in Nottinghamshire. SC 8/17/822, which appears to represent a later stage in the proceedings, says that the conspiracy at Newark to disinherit Andrew took place on the Monday following the translation of St Thomas, in the fourth year of the present king's reign [July (whether Thomas the Apostle or Thomas a Becket) 1330], and mentions that the conspirators were later indicted before justices of oyer et terminer in Nottinghamshire who were appointed in 1331. This petition would then seem to date from 1330-1331.
