Nature of request
Nicholas de Pershete states that when he was Constable of Marlborough castle in the time of the King's father, he received ten tuns of wine from Hugh de Chikehull, Sheriff of Hampshire. These wines were consumed against his will by the Countess of Gloucester and her people, staying at the castle at the late king's command, who told him that they would count against the expenses of her household: nevertheless they are being charged to him. He requests a remedy.

Note
Hugh de Chikehull was Sheriff of Hampshire between 10 December 1294 and 10 May 1297. As this petition refers to the 'late king' it must be from the reign of Edward II, and, from the French endorsement, from quite late on in that reign.
