Nature of request
Richard Praty complains that while he was suing against certain people of Stratford-upon-Avon, for various offences against the liberty of Holy Church and especially against the rights of his college, his proctor was chased through Stratford-upon-Avon by an armed crowd of townspeople, at the instigation of Hugh Halle, John Burnham, Thomas Mayell, Nicholas Mayell, John Hynton, William Lokyer, Thomas Walker, Richard Fox and John Stokes, who would have killed him and burned the house in which he took refuge, if he had not escaped. Since then Richard and his associates have not dared to pursue their suit.
