Description
Petitioners
Prioress and convent of St Mary de Pre, and Henry Dyper.
Name(s)
Dyper, Henry
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The petitioners state that the Prioress and convent of St Mary de Pré granted a piece of land in St Albans to Thomas Heyne, to hold at farm for a term of years, and that they then re-entered it for non-payment of the farm, as they were entitled to do by the terms of their indenture, and granted it to Henry Dyper. However, Richard Heth, who had married Thomas' widow, entered the land by force and against right. The matter went to arbitration, which found in favour of the Prioress and convent, and Henry Dyper. Despite this, and despite letters from the King, Richard Heth continues to attempt to evade this decision, to their great harm. They ask the king to write to the Chancellor, ordering him to have the arbiters come before him and to examine them on this, and then to do justice and to punish this trespass.
