Description
Petitioners
Robert Power.
Name(s)
Power, Robert
Addressees
King's council.
Nature of request
Robert Power makes two requests:1) He states that he was ordered to go to North Wales to take up the office of Chamberlain there, but that the current Chamberlain cannot be found to hand over his office, apparently because he fears that he will be arrested to come to account. He asks the council to ordain on this.2) He asks that all the bailiwicks and farms in North Wales with which the Chamberlain ought to be charged might be leased at the receipt of Caernarfon at as high a rate as possible, in the presence of the Justiciar or his lieutenant, of the Chamberlain and of the Comptroller; and that security might be found there: as he has been told that that is how it used to be done.
Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned
North Wales
Caernarfon, [Caernarfonshire, Wales].
People mentioned
The Chamberlain of North Wales.
Note
CCR 1318-23 p.649 and CFR 1319-27 p.208 are both dated 11 May 1323, and the petition would therefore seem to date to that year.
