Nature of request
The petitioners state that Edward I granted an annuity to John de Seint Johan, the great-grandfather of Margaret and Isabel, until he had provided him with land from the lands of his enemies, and that he afterwards gave him Buittle castle and other lands in Scotland. John died seised of these lands, but the king has now granted them to Edward Balliol, while the heir was under age. They request restitution of the lands or other lands to the same value.

Note
CFR 1347-56 p.107 is dated 10 March 1349, and the petition would seem to date from around this time, or possibly later. The king has only recently taken the fealty of Luke de Ponyng, who has married Isabel, formerly the wife of Henry de Burgherssh.
